‘I really think she has a lot of spirit and spunk and tremendous audacity,’ Sushmita said.‘To have come from where she has and to establish her own identity, and to have that kind of spirit couldn’t be easy. But she has done it,’ she added.
Tell her Mallika speaks of Sushmita as some kind of a role model, and the actress smiles. ‘Really? I haven’t met Mallika but the little that I know of her, I like her.’
Mallika, who is transcending borders with Bill Bannerman’s ‘Unveiled’, seems to subscribe to Sushmita’s school of thought.
If gossip news is to be believed, Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat is going to be in Hollywood, and it is not going to be those arty-farty directors like Mira Nair or Deepa Mehta!
Bill Bannerman, an assistant with Clint Eastwood has been making rounds in India looking for his new movie Unveiled, a movie about a Muslim woman. And he thinks Mallika Sherawat fits his bill, because, “Behind the dark burkha, there lies a sexy, manipulative victim, whose life is in grave danger. But she is very dangerous too”.
Well and if you are wondering why only an India a) because Indians look more muslims and b) Indian women, are known to know Islam better than many other. Looks like Mallika Sherawat is set out to chill!
Mallika Sherawat sure has sex appeal. But she can’t match the dancing skills of Aishwarya Rai.
The two ladies are acting in Mani Ratnam’s latest release Guru. The movie has both Ash and Mallika in two different songs that showcase their dancing skills.
Mallika plays a dancer from abroad and appears in a slightly sensuous number called ‘Maiyya Maiyya’. Ash, on the other hand, is introduced in the film in the song ‘Barso Re’.
Dance instructor Brinda, who has choreographed the steps for both Ash and Mallika in the film, is appreciative of Mallika’s dancing skills, but she also asserts that Ash is more nimble and graceful in dance movements.
Not many know that Ash has been trained in Indian classical dances and began shooting for ‘Guru’ right after Umrao Jaan in which she played a courtesan with immaculate dancing skills.
Choreographer Brinda is quoted as saying: “Mallika is very talented, but when compared to Aishwarya she comes second place. Even in small movements, Aishwarya is brilliant.”Mallika has just a walk-on part in ‘Guru’ while Ash plays the movie’s leading lady.
In 2007 Mallika Sherawat already has a buzz around her. Pictures of her sizzling performance on New Year’s eve, dressed in a skin-coloured body suit, at the JW Marriot in Mumbai, were splashed all over the media. A classic ‘Mallika style’ way of reminding us, that she is still around.
Last year Mallika had been fairly low profile, keeping away from the limelight and all her controversial quotes. Having established herself in the industry with her sound bites and antics, it seemed the actress now wanted step back and let her work do the talking.
And talk they did. Not just her films that had everyone sit up and appreciate the actress in her, but also her co-stars who got to meet a Mallika who seemed different from the image she had shown to the world.
Mallika can hardly blame anyone for the impression the world has about her. She chose to portray a particular image to the public and her personal and professional life was judged according to that. She was spared by none and even became the butt of joke on a very popular chat show.
It was an event to remember in more ways than one. Saregama India Ltd. celebrated their long musical association with Bhatt brothers recently. It was a nostalgic affair.
Incidentally another re-union took place. The Murder heroine with killing looks – Mallika Sherawat was also present on the occasion, signaling a comeback to the Bhatt camp.
This, of course, augurs well for Mallika Sherawat because she is in good hands as far as the Bhatt brothers are concerned.
The silver screen will be set ablaze when three Bollywood hotties Mallika Sherawat, Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif team up for a movie.
The oomph quotient will touch an all-time high with the coming together of the three beautiful and sensuous belles in a yet-untitled Tips venture, to be directed by Abbas-Mustan.
